And so our time in Brisbane is slowly drawing to a close. After planning to be here for just two weeks, five months later (Bar a three week jaunt up to Cairns) we’re finally out of here. The 25th September will see us take three flights to get to our next port of call, Broome. Three bloody flights – Apparently because the last leg of the flight is using two smaller airports, I’ve been told to expect a smaller, ‘personal’ plane. I’ve got a preconceived idea that I’ll be sitting next to Clare on one side and a goat on the other. The in-flight meal might be a choice between the Lasagna and grass.
We’re currently looking after another one of Bron’s friends houses, Jane and Todd’s. We’ve a few less animals to look after here, although no less of a hand full. We’re taking care of, and trying to keep up with Sydney the dog. Sydney is a fourteen year old with the energy of a two year old. He’s a cross bread between a old English sheep dog and the Duracell bunny who jumps up and down so much, I wonder if he’s secretly packed himself a trampoline. It’s quite nice to walk around the suburbs taking him, or is it being taken?
Two weeks ago, we had Nicole stay with us for a few days. She had a work event in Sydney for a week (some in the business world may know this as a jolly) and then took a detour to Brisbane to see us. It was great to see a familiar face and we took her out and about to see some of Brisbane’s sights…..apart from when there was shopping, and then I mysteriously went missing.
We’ve had the best time in Brissie and have a lot to thank Jane, Todd, Jennifer and Duncan for, but especially Bron, who really has made all this happen for us. Being able to look after peoples houses and work here has meant that we’ve really experienced being a local, seen things that a tourist wouldn’t have and save loads of money doing it. Best off all; we can remain unemployed until the end of the year! Yeah!!!!!!
