...and we're here!
26 hours, five in-flight meals (two breakfasts in a row!) a couple of snoozes and the odd beer and we've finally got our arses to the other side of the planet.
Leaving was a tear filled affair, with the Heathrow placed on flood alert as we left the families. Clare's eyes were glazed over, still emotional from the goodbyes, she sniffled through the security checks and on coming through the other side, screamed "WOW, they've got a Harrods in here!". She had got over the goodbyes.
So, we've been here for 5 days so far and have just started to get our head around things. The jet lag has been a pain in the arse for me. It feels like I've contracted temporary narcolepsy as I randomly fall asleep dring the day. I currently have a panchant for waking up at exactly 00:15. Don't know why I'm doing it, but it's starting to do my head in!
So far we've looked around Brisbane or Brissie (Picking up the Aussie lingo already. Basically, you take a word, halve it, then whack an 'ie' or an 's' at the end - No probs!). Spent today on the Sunshine coast......which was kind of ironic as there was little sunshine. Saying that though it was still really warm and the sea was braved.
We're current staying at Vern's place, who's a friend of Bron. This place is amazing. Apart from the house been huge, it's got a veranda that looks over 30 miles worth or so of forrest! It looks like Jurassic Park!
We've got two days planned at Stradbrook Island (Or 'Straddie Island - You see what I did there!) so that should be excellent.
Beer research - Introductory reasearch has been postive with several samples taken. The obligatory Toohies has been tested, but current favorite is Eumundi - Love it!
Beard Up date - Well considered I hadn't shaved for a week before leaving it's looking pretty damn thick. With some strategic shaving and wearing my aviator shades I've realised that there's a potential career in a Village people tribute band. Hmmmm.

The song of the screaming banshees
Well, my ears are still ringing and I think I might be partially deaf, which may go some way to explaining why I keep walking into things.
As the girls gathered around the mike for the karaoke part of the leaving party, the crowd flocked around the stage in great anticipation of something wonderful. The Wham classic of Wake me up before you go, go was the chosen weapon of choice.
Then they started. The pitch was so................'unique', the crowd opted to take several retreating steps backwards. Windows rattled, glasses shook and I decided that it would be my cue to have a refreshing step outside.......away from the venue............into a different county.
A good night had by all though. I've never seen so many sausage rolls and quiches in one place. Cheers for all of the food and drink people! Made for a great night!
The next morning after cleaning the hall, Myself, Clare, Emma and Robin went for the essential fry up. Man that was good.
Was quite surprised when we got home to see Giggs sprawled out on our front lawn looking a lighter shade of pale. A classic end to a great weekend
